How to Donate FoodTo donate food, leave a message on the Rachel's Table food donation telephone number: (508) 799-7600. A volunteer will return your call. Please let us know:
Rachel's Table will pick up and deliver any food, fresh or cooked, that is in good condition, from growers and businesses. We often transport catered food, vegetables, casseroles, pizzas, fruits, etc. as long as they are in good and safe condition. Food accepted for donation must be properly cooled or frozen. Donor guidelines are available. There is no cost to the donor.. In fact, businesses can receive a tax credit at the year end for the cumulative donations. State and national laws protect the donor from liability resulting from the use of donated food. Talk to us about organizing a food drive. Get a group together and cook a meal. There are lots of ways to help. How to Donate DollarsHundreds of hungry people in Worcester seek food assistance daily. Often they are families with young children whose paycheck does not stretch far enough to cover the basic necessities. The poor economy, high utility and gas prices and lack of affordable housing prevent many working parents from being able to provide nourishing food for their families. At Rachel's Table, we combine food donated by the community along with purchased fresh milk to provide meals for local people in need. It costs Rachel's Table $3,500 each week to provide milk to thousands of hungry children in Worcester. In addition to the work of over 70 volunteers, Rachel's Table spends $17,000 to purchase fruits and vegetables for Worcester's Summer Meal Program for children and $1,800 for special food for the homeless helped by HOAP. This past fiscal year (2006-2007) Rachel's Table distributed 339,000 pounds of donated food and over 34,000 gallons of fresh milk valued at $1,000,000! The combined food rescue and Children's Milk Fund budget was about $200,000. Our administrative costs are only7% - that's cost effective, so a donation wll be well spent! Rachel's Table is proud to have been chosen for inclusion in The Catalog of Philanthropy (Massachusetts 2000). Charities are selected for general excellence, cost-effectiveness, and teaching value about philanthropy. Rachel's Table is also a recipient of the Points of Light award and the Congressional Hunger Committee's Victory Against Hunger Award. Rachel's Table was featured in City Living Magazine, and on television on Sundays with Liz Walker. Your entire donation is tax-deductible. Our Federal Tax ID number is available on request. Using your employer's Matching Gift Program will make your donation go further. Please forward your contributions to: Rachel's Table |
